

MARCO MERENDA
Marco Merenda (they/them) is a German-Italian performance maker working at the intersection of directing, dramaturgy, performance, and physical theatre.

Their work embraces a bold, in-yer-face queer aesthetic designed to spark deep, thought-provoking conversations with the audience.



Trained in acting at Accademia del Teatro Oscar (Milan) and directing at Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi (Milan), Marco also refined their craft through an intensive Viewpoints workshop with Ellen Lauren (SITI Company).
Academically, they hold a BA in Linguistics and Literature from Università degli Studi di Pavia (2017) and an MA in Performance Studies from the University of Hamburg (2022).

Between 2024 and 2025, they received a fellowship from the Claussen-Simon-Stiftung as part of the stART.up scholarship program.
Currently based in Hamburg, Marco fluidly moves between roles as a freelance performance maker and performer, working with Linda Lou Dierich-Matzke, Maciek Martios, Amelie Werner, Sappho Ton Bogataj, Christopher Ramm, Nágila Analy Freitas Reis, and Henry Hüster, among others.
Their works have been staged across Germany and internationally, with notable venues and festivals including Kampnagel, Hamburger Sprechwerk, Lichthof Theatre, MS Stubnitz (Hamburg), Ecosistem Festival (Bucharest), Kulturfactory (Naples), MAI - Montréal, art interculturels (Tiohtià:ke) and Torino Fringe Festival.
