The security industry has been booming for years. The pandemic has made this development even more visible and security people have become an integral part of our everyday lives. But what exactly is this security that is in demand? What does it look like and who provides it? The doorman, the shop detective, the man in front of the supermarket: security is often associated with stereotypical images of masculinity. Yet it is precisely these masculinities that are in crisis, caught between precarious working conditions, social expectations and James Bond fantasies.

In SECURITY, the team led by Hamburg-based director and sound artist Christopher Ramm sets out in search of fictions of security, masculinity and control together with men working in the security industry. Based on sixteen interviews, two security men, a dancer and a performer draw a multidimensional picture of protectors and their vulnerability.
